Co2 Suppression System

Co2 Suppression System

Cease Fire & Electrical Services gives complete Co2 Suppression System services from installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance last 25 years.

We are recognized Co2 Suppression System supplier and trader in Mumbai – Maharashtra – India.

Co2 at atmospheric pressure is a colorless, odorless and electrically Non Conductive inert gas, It has high expansion ratio which facilities rapid discharge and allows three dimensional quick penetration in the entire hazard area. Made from premium quality components, this system's importance lies in the fact that it has high efficiency to extinguish fire by reducing the oxygen content of the protected area below the point where it can support combustion and designed to withstand every climatic conditions.

Co2 Suppression System Typical Application

  • Power Generation
  • Cement Plant/Blast Furnace Indirect Coal Firing Systems
  • Metal Production and Processing
  • Printing
  • Automotive
  • Electronics Operations
  • Electronics/Computer Production
  • Research Facilities
  • Shipboard (Marine) Systems
  • Automated Storage and Retrieval Facilities

Benefits of CO2 Fire Suppression Systems:

Low pressure CO2 fire sprinkler systems and equipment are best suited for applications where large quantities of CO2 are needed. A high pressure system is recommended for smaller hazards or where space is limited.
  • Fast - Within seconds, CO2 penetrates the entire hazard areas to smother the combustion.
  • Environmentally Friendly - CO2 exists as a gas in the earth's atmosphere and is one of the by-products of combustion. Its use has no environmental impact.
  • Non-damaging - CO2 does not cause spoilage, requires no clean up and leaves no residue.
  • Non-conductive - CO2 is electrically non-conductive, allowing use for a wide variety of special applications.
  • Adaptive - CO2 is effective on a wide range of flammable and combustible materials.

A CO2 fire suppression system consists of one or more banks of cylinder storage containers to supply the CO2 extinguishing agent. Flexible discharge hoses connect the cylinders into a piping manifold. The manifold distributes the agent into the piping network. Nozzles regulate the flow of CO2 into the protected area.

WHY USED CO2 ?

Carbon dioxide is the fire extinguishing medium used in CO2 flooding system. It is an effective fire suppression agent applicable to a wide range of fire hazards.

There are several advantages for the CO2 as a firefighting medium.
  • Density is 1.5 times higher than air. So CO2 settles down and displaces air.
  • It can be easily liquefied and bottled.
  • 20% – 30% CO2 concentration extinguishes fire by smothering
  • Non-corrosive
  • Non- conductor of electricity
  • No residues left after application
  • No deterioration with age

Similarly there are some disadvantages also, such as:
  • CO2 is highly asphyxiating. 9% concentration causes unconsciousness within minutes
  • Very little cooling effect. So there is danger of re-ignition.
  • When discharged, solid CO2 particles present and generate sufficient static electricity to produce spark.
